The People of Pitco Featuring Scott Kohnle

At Pitco, we’re known for designing and manufacturing top-tier commercial fryers. But it’s really the people behind the machines who keep things running smoothly every day. In our new blog series, The People of Pitco, we’re pulling back the curtain to highlight the incredible individuals behind the scenes. From the production floor to the logistics office, these are the folks whose dedication and expertise make Pitco what it is.

First to be featured in The People of Pitco is Scott Kohnle: Logistics Supervisor, resource planning software MVP, and disc golf aficionado. Let’s learn more about Scott.

How long have you been with Pitco, and what’s your current role?

I’ll have been here for four years in September. I’m a Logistics Supervisor.

Can you describe your role and responsibilities?

We just went live with a new enterprise resource planning system (ERP) system, and I was a part of that project last year. Right now, I’m mostly doing reports for system auditing, making sure we’re following processes correctly, fixing issues, and redefining workflows across manufacturing, warehouse, and shipping for both incoming and outgoing shipments.

Were you a key player in the software transition?

Definitely for the warehouse. I spent all of last year defining processes for the system: shipping, service, receiving, picking, quality, and some subassembly. I managed all the warehouse locations. Then I branched out to planning, procurement, engineering, manufacturing, and the shop floor. I was the go-to person when we went live, and I still am as people get used to the system.

What’s your background? How did you get into this field?

I’ve worked in manufacturing since I was 20, so almost seven years now. I’ve always been in supply chain. I started at Pitco as a second shift group leader in shipping. When Rick Gilman took over the warehouse, I asked to be involved in implementing the new system because I knew I’d be good at it.

I started getting good at the system and began helping everyone in the company. I’d have them explain their process, and I’d translate it into the system. Before I knew it, I was doing that full time and that led to the role I have now, which I accepted about a month ago.

What do you enjoy most about working with your team?

Honestly, because of the work I’ve done, I’d consider my team to be the whole company now. One of the most beneficial things is learning how Pitco operates, not just the warehouse but customer service, quality, purchasing, and manufacturing. I’ve learned a lot.

What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?

I’m really into disc golf. I play in tournaments and a weekly league. I also play guitar, and I’m married so I like hiking with my wife, going to the beach, anything outdoors.

Where are you originally from?

I’m originally from Maine. I spent half my childhood in New Hampshire, and the rest in the South, Texas and Florida. I’ve been back in New Hampshire since around 2015.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I think I’ve covered most of it. Right now, I spend a lot of time helping manufacturing to write reports. I do a lot of automated report writing using data. Not everyone has time to build an Excel spreadsheet daily, so I create automated reports they can just check and move on with their day. I’ve been doing that a lot lately.
